Professional Biography

Deidra Darst was born in Ripley, WV in October of 1985. She grew up in Kenna, WV where she lived with her mom, dad, younger brother and several family pets. She attended Ripley High School where she was a member of the school’s National Honor Society chapter, Mu Alpha Theta, RAZE, Publications Club and the marching and concert bands. Her senior year she served as the flag corps captain, first chair clarinet and graduated with over a 4.0 G.P.A.
Deidra is currently a senior in the Communication Disorders Department at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. She aspires to obtain a Master’s of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Deidra is an active member of Marshall’s National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA). She, along with some classmates, presented a project dealing with several voice disorders at the West Virginia Speech and Hearing Association State Convention in the spring of 2007. Within her field of study, she is particularly interested in voice, fluency and neurological disorders.
She lives with her husband Curtis and their guinea pig named Abner. In her spare time, she volunteers at a local animal shelter, plays the piano, spends time with family and friends and enjoys scrapbooking.
